BOB AND TOM CYCLE 4 HOPE – SYDNEY TO MELBOURNE RAISING FUNDS FOR HUNTINGTON’S DISEASE NSW & ACT
On my last four rides raising funds for two great charities MND & Huntington’s I have ridden solo however this year I am both pleased and very proud to have my 11 year old grandson Tom Malcolm riding with me.
Over the past 5 ½ years I have raised funds and awareness for two charities – Huntington’s Disease NSW & ACT and MND – I have done this with the help of very generous sponsors and donors by riding my bike around Australia. First ride: Katoomba to Port Douglas – Second ride: Perth to Leura – Third ride: Darwin to Perth and Fourth Ride: Darwin to Port Douglas.
This year I am riding from Sydney to Melbourne to raise funds and awareness for Huntington’s only as we want to really help Huntington’s families to get the vital help and support they need.
A really good friend of ours has Huntington’s in his family and he has been part of my support crew over the last three rides I have undertaken.
I have kept up my training of 400kms riding per week and also doing weights daily. Tom is a very sports minded young man who and well as cycling plays Rugby and Cricket, does cross country running and loves hiking. He has been following a very strict training programme overseen by his parents and myself and has undertaken quite a few rides around Centennial Park and in the Blue Mountains learning about road riding and safety precautions that have to be followed at all times.
Once again my wife Jenny will accompany us as well as Bill Pixton and possibly our daughter Allison Malcolm.
As previously I have been generously supported by a loyal band of sponsors who have included B&E Foods, Salsa Bar and Grill and a few new ones who I hope to get on board this year.
As a proud member of the Rotary Club of Upper Blue Mountains Sunrise and a Paul Harris Fellow I am pleased to say that once again I have the Club’s full support. Along the way I will be speaking at various Rotary Clubs spreading the word about Huntington’s.
