Katoomba2PortDouglas
Katoomba to Port Douglas for MND (2014 – 2015)

1st December 2014 – 3rd January 2015

To celebrate his 70th birthday, Bob set out on a ride from the Three Sisters in Katoomba all the way to Port Douglas, a journey of courage, purpose, and heart. Joined by his wife Jenny and two friends, he rode for 26 days through heat, rain, and long, lonely highways to raise awareness and funds for Motor Neurone Disease in honour of his cousin Judith. Along the way, the kindness of strangers and the generosity of supporters helped raise over $48,000 for MND NSW.

Perth2Sydney
Perth to Sydney for MND (2016)

7th September 2016 – 13th October 2016

From the Indian Ocean to the Blue Mountains, Bob’s 3,900-kilometre ride from Perth to Sydney was another epic test of endurance and spirit, all to support those living with Motor Neurone Disease. Backed by his Rotary Club and his wife Jenny, the journey crossed the vast Nullarbor Plains and wild Australian landscapes. When illness struck mid-journey, courage and teamwork kept the mission alive. In the end, the ride raised $55,000 for MND NSW, a powerful reminder that even the toughest headwinds can’t stop a determined heart.

Darwin2Perth
Darwin to Perth for MND & HD (2017)

11th May 2017 – 20th June 2017

From the Top End to the West Coast, Bob took on another monumental challenge, a 4,200-kilometre ride from Darwin to Perth to raise awareness for both Motor Neurone Disease and Huntington’s Disease. Joined by fellow Rotarians Bill Pixton and Michael Small, the journey combined stunning scenery, inspiring teamwork, and heartfelt purpose. Along the way, Bob spoke to Rotary Clubs and communities about the two causes, helping raise $48,000 for research and support. Two wheels, two charities, one extraordinary mission.

Darwin to Port Douglas for MND (2018)

21st July 2018 – 13th August 2018

To complete his ride around Australia, Bob set out from Darwin to Port Douglas, 2,900 kilometres through some of the country’s most remote and rugged terrain. Supported by his wife Jenny and friend Sally Harmon, he rode from pre-dawn starts to tropical sunsets, all to raise funds for Motor Neurone and Huntington’s diseases. Along the way, the team met incredible people in outback towns and remote Rotary Clubs, helping raise an inspiring $100,000 for the cause. Another chapter in a remarkable journey of endurance and heart.

Bob and Tom 2019
Sydney to Melbourne for HD (2019)

22nd September 2019 – 2nd October 2019

In 2019, Bob and his 12-year-old grandson Tom rode 1,121 kilometres from Sydney to Barwon Heads to raise awareness for Huntington’s Disease. Facing fierce headwinds, steep climbs, and long days in the saddle, their teamwork and determination shone through. From the Blue Mountains to the Macedon Ranges, every kilometre was powered by purpose, ending with a joyful splash in the Barwon River to celebrate an unforgettable achievement for a meaningful cause. It was a ride that bonded generations and inspired everyone who followed their journey. We raised an incredible $30,000 for HD.
